How Do I Take Part?

We want you to enjoy the month of January, so we’re asking you to decide on one, or many projects/activities to focus on all month, in order to bring you joy! If you’re unsure on what to do, check out our blogs and pages on this site for a whole host of inspiration! We have photos of previous projects, participant interviews, and even word prompts under our heading ‘FADD Creatives’.

How to sign up:

Get in touch! You can send us a direct message to funadaydundee@gmail.com or on our social media accounts saying “Sign me up!”

Where to join in:

FADD takes place online over January. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We’ve found that a lot of our community are based on Instagram, but you won’t be missing out on any important information if you’re not on social media. We send all updates and relevant information to participants via email during the project. If you’d like to follow along, and share your project’s development over January, just use/search the official hashtag this year: #FADD2021.

Some prompts from our sister account FADDCreatives
where we’re online all year outwith the January project.

How To Start

  1. Brainstorm! Once you’ve signed up with us, it’s time to decide what your personal aim/goal is going to be for January. If you have something planned in advance, it helps you get started when the time comes.
Will you make a bet to go walking, or to maybe to finish off a creative project from the past, or why not try something completely new? Maybe you want to work on a painting all January, or try a variety of different art mediums. Perhaps you’re writing, reading, or playing an instrument. Maybe you’re working on ways to connect and play with your family, or making time to bake/cook…?
  2. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Many people like to work on their FADD project every day, others once or twice a week. The good thing is you decide when (and where) to make it work within your own schedule. One piece of advice: make each ‘session’ short. That way if you’re not totally in the mood, you’ve still made a little step on your way, without taking up time in your day to day routine.
  3. Do a bit of research. We’ve got plenty of blog posts, FAQs, and an archive dating way back to inspire you.
  4. Follow FADD and the hashtag. If you’re on social media, it helps to stay in the loop if you’re following our accounts as well as checking in on other participant’s journey with #FADD2021.

Share!

If you think friends/family/coworkers would enjoy this boost to their new year, encourage them to sign up as well! 🙂 You don’t have to reside in Dundee or even the UK to take part. We continue to accept sign ups into the first week of January.
