Every year we are inspired by the variety of skills on show during Fun A Day in Dundee. We want you to be inspired too, so we’re sharing some of our previous participants’ stories as we get ready for Fun A Day Dundee 2020!
Whatever you’d like to create, we want to see it!
Let’s hear from Maureen King, who took part for the first time in 2019.
‘My name is Maureen and I live in Forfar. I’ve enjoyed creating quirky characters for as long as I can remember, mostly illustrating and occasionally using recycled products.
‘I work pretty much full time, but recently dropped a day to concentrate more on creative projects and follow my passion for art.
‘Most of my work is done in studio (a messy corner of my home) but the creative inspiration and ideas usually come from when I’m out and about, so my wee brain is always ticking away looking for new projects.
‘I am so grateful for discovering Fun A Day Dundee at the right time. January can be a slow time creatively, after all those mince pies at Christmas!
‘But it’s wonderful to see all the different ways people create when they take part in FADD – people from all walks of life, and all the different projects.
‘It’s a great way to kickstart the new year and an opportunity to learn new skills.
‘The project I worked on in 2019 was a chess set made from leftover fizz corks. Just to be clear, I didn’t drink all the bottles they came from! I’m more of a red wine kind of gal.
‘I decided on the chess set as my Dad was a HUGE fan of the game, and he’s always in my thoughts this time of year.”
